Couple photo shoot in Lecce after surprise wedding proposal in Matera
There’s something special about photographing couples in love especially when they’ve flown all the way from Canada to experience the poetic charm of Puglia. Mark and Kaylin, two sweet souls with radiant smiles and open hearts, originally planned their photo session in Matera, but when they heard about the quiet, hidden beauty of Lecce, they changed course.
What made their story even more magical is that Mark had surprised Kaylin with a secret proposal the day before, right in the breathtaking city of Matera. Surrounded by ancient stone and timeless views, he asked her to marry him—and she said yes. The next day, still glowing with joy, they joined me in Lecce for a couple photo session that felt like a natural continuation of their love story.
As a couple photographer based in Puglia, every session is more than just taking photos—it’s about creating a genuine connection and discovering the unique story of each couple. With Mark and Kaylin, our journey began in the golden heart of Salento, surrounded by barocco leccese, art, history, and laughter.
A Stroll Through Lecce: Where Baroque Meets Intimacy
We started our photo session in the iconic Piazza Sant'Oronzo, where Lecce’s energy pulses in the air. The ancient Romanesque amphitheatre whispered stories of the past as we laughed, walked, and captured authentic moments. No stiff poses, no stress just the two of them being completely themselves, soaking in the beauty of the city and each other.
A Sweet Pause at Caffè Alvino in Lecce
Before continuing, we took a slow, sweet break at Caffè Alvino-Catamo, a historic café loved by locals and in the middle of the main square. I suggested they try a “Caffè Leccese” our refreshing iced espresso with almond syrup. Their eyes lit up at the first sip, and then came the pasticciotto our traditional shortcrust pastry filled with soft custard. One bite and they were hooked. These little moments, full of flavor and emotion, are as much part of the memory as the photos themselves.
The Soul of Salento in Every Frame
As the afternoon light turned golden, we wandered through the quiet alleys of Lecce, stopping at Basilica di Santa Croce, a masterpiece of barocco leccese. Here, under the intricate facades and archways, we created some of my favorite shoots from their session: pure, romantic, and effortlessly poetic.
Mark and Kaylin didn’t come for poses. They came for something reala moment of art, emotion, and connection, wrapped in the warmth of the South. Their story is now part of mine, I loved to met them.
